Special Projects
Penske Racing Shocks allocates substantial engineering resources to our standard product line as well as special custom projects for customers as requested. A special project is defined as a damper design and production that does not use a majority of off-the-shelf components. Most of these applications are isolated to Formula One where each chassis is specific to a particular team with different motion ratios, gearbox designs, and suspension packaging envelops. We design each component damper to exact specifications required by the customer which has the benefit of no compromises. Penske Racing Shocks not only supports special requests in design and manufacture of dampers but also provides factory engineering support for curve matching, servicing, training, and troubleshooting. Each new project has a lead engineer assigned who sees the project through to completion including design of all parts, delivery logistics, and daily correspondence with the customer. Additionally, Penske Racing Shocks offers joint training of team technicians at our facility when a new project is delivered.
Other types of special projects that are commonly taken on are custom street car applications, military vehicle suspension (ground, air, and sea), specific open-wheel customer projects such as IRL teams, electronically controlled and active dampers, and other custom hydraulic items such as weight jackers.
