Penske Racing Shocks Review Featured in STAReview Magazine

STAReview Magazine, the official Motorcycle Sport Touring Association (MSTA) members magazine, featured a product review of Penske Racing Shocks PS-8900E, single adjustable emulsion motorcycle shock, in Volume 28, No. 24. Read excerpts from the article below.

David Narens, Illinois, MSTA Benefits Director: Spring has sprung and so my motorcycle sprung from the garage for the first big trip of the year. I ride a 2006 Suzuki V-Strom DL1000 and up until this year it has remained virtually stock for the 54,000 miles I put on it. I say virtually because right from the start I had to replace the turn signals from drive-way drops - but other than that, the V-Strom is all stock.

So getting ready for a new riding season I needed to replace some things and simply improve others. Adding to the ride comfort is a brand new Penske mono shock 8900-E. This was the most expensive item I have had to add or replace on my bike and I was a little concerned over all the other choices available.

I called Cycle Center of Denton, www.cyclecenterofdenton.com. They made the transaction smooth and comfortable. While they were not able to offer the full discount they do on other parts for MSTA members, they still saved me a lot compared to other places I looked.

Once it was decided to move ahead, they took all kinds of information about how and what I rode. They also asked about the kind of riding I do, all of which Penske uses to set the shock up for you. The service and attention they provided removed any apprehension I had.

Denny Drury from Farkle Mania did the installation and he reported the shock went in smoothly, fitting my bike as promised.

After putting 630 miles on to get down to the CMM-MSTA Spring Breakout location in Mountain View, AR, I decided the ride felt too stiff. So we rotated the shock's adjuster 3 clicks. This was very easy to do even though I did not buy the remote adjusters. The wheel was very easy to see and reach, and the adjustments were distinct. I was pleased to see it made a real difference. Compared to what seemed like an all on or all off with the original shock, this Penske is the real deal. Dialed in now, the ride was just eating up the road while only sending what I needed to feel and taking the little jabs and jars out.
